Developing Language

September 16, 2020 in Mommyhood
When my oldest daughter was 13 months old, I asked my husband how many words he thought she had. “Maybe 50-60?” I thought he was being optimistic! 30 was my guess. Well, we decided to sit down and write down all the...

Sometimes God seems distant and faraway. We strugg Sometimes God seems distant and faraway. We struggle to understand what He's up to. We turn away. We yell at Him. And even after all that, He shows up.

This arrived at my gate this week. A massive order. I knew someone had decided to bless us when he said it was for me. Then(!!!) the delivery guy hauled out two crates worth of groceries!! The note on the paper was "Loving gift"

God, again, had prompted someone who was doing her quiet time, to bless us. Does this scenario sound familiar?
And you may write this off as someone being generous. But the packets contained items we had run out of. The generous lady didn't know what we needed. Yet, following the prompting of the Lord she selected items that would help us! Between her and my mom, we have been truly blessed!

Thank you! You know who you are❤❤

God loves us! He's got our backs! O me of little faith!

Today I needed to read this. We don't always under Today I needed to read this. We don't always understand why things happen or why life is the way it is. But we can know that God is on the throne and He is in control! Nothing slips under the radar. And rather than shaking our first at Him, we need to try (darn hard, I know) and remember that He can see the big picture. Each brushstroke might look messy when you're up close but each one is planned to create the masterpiece. In the meantime, look to Him for strength!

It's been a day! And it's not even midday! I am an It's been a day! And it's not even midday! I am annoyed, frustrated and upset! Between an explosion of unfolded washing on the landing to dishes taking FOREVER because of interruptions from the girls, to the municipality being frustrating, to not getting to a blog post that is supposed to be published today...I've had it! Kids have had a love hate relationship this morning...
Motherhood...life is messy....
Right now my daughter has told me something along the lines of that I'm not watching her but I'm busy looking at my phone...and that made me want to cry. #momguilt #convicted
This post is not a call for sympathy but rather a reminder that Instagram is often full of gorgeous pictures with filters and airbrushed images. But, that's not life. This is! Plans are messed up. Things don't get done. Tempers flare. Tears are shed. And both our houses and our minds feel like a bomb went off.

We live in a broken world. A day to remember that life will not always be this way. One day, it will be perfect again.

I have all these ideas of what I want my kids to r I have all these ideas of what I want my kids to remember about their childhood days but everytime I lose my temper, do the 263778 chore instead of play and yell instead of compose myself, I am not being that parent!

As I sit here typing, I can see a wet patch on the As I sit here typing, I can see a wet patch on the carpet. I have 3 in my house right now – I have cleaned up cat vomit twice. Older has visited the bathroom three times today for disobedience and ‘klapping’ her sister “across the face.” The rising bread fell off the Weber and ushered some dirt and ants into the lopsided dough. It then received a nice “toasting” in the oven when I decided to finish making mobiles with their girls instead of pulling it out sooner. Housework was interrupted by Younger reading her books on said wet patch and the like. Younger refused a carrot, cried because I didn’t give her the carrot and then cried when I only gave her a little piece because she actually doesn’t like carrot anyway.
But, this morning, I actually have had reason to celebrate. 3 darn good ones too.
First, I woke up this morning and saw the dawn of another day. In the middle of this pandemic, I am one of the blessed ones!
Secondly, my daughter woke up without a temperature. She had one yesterday and kids being sick terrifies me!
Thirdly, I got a call from my husband - one to update me on a research project he’s been trying to raise funding for. It’s a national study on online pornographic content and associated harms for children and young adults in South Africa. (He has started an organisation that helps people fight porn addiction). So this is a big deal! He was invited to be a part of it. But he had to raise R200 000 to get in. Yes, you read right! He received $1000 which is a lot of money but a far cry from his goal. He had until next week to raise just half to start the research. I knew from the beginning that this was literally impossible to get this kind of money unless some big shot had some $$ lying around. As it happens, he called to say he couldn’t be a part of the research when he got told that whatever he couldn’t pay would be paid for him! This is nothing short of a miracle! This was (yet another!) reminder to never put God in a box! He is indeed a God of the impossible and, if He wills it, NOTHING will stand in His way! Reason enough to #celebrate!
