Yes, I am the dummy. I am that gullible idiot who just reads the first easy-read-how-to-become-famous blog post and then minutes later, pays $99 to register a blog with a host website.
So, if you’ve done this, I’m here to say that you’re not alone. I did it too. And now I’m stuck with an information overload and I want to crawl under my duvet, close my eyes and pretend I can’t see anyone…because then they can’t see me, right?
The how-to’s are endless. I won’t lie, I’m feeling pretty overwhelmed. What started out as an exhilarating, impulsive, “yes-I-can-do this” day ended up being a “beat-myself-over-the-head-in-shame” day. Not only that, I feel like I’m in way deeper than I’d like. It’s an expensive mess to swim out of and now I have a blog, no followers and no idea how to create a theme page.
What makes it worse is that I’ve suddenly realised that I haven’t done my research properly and have found cheaper options. Well, now all I can do is make the best of things!
Where to begin? All the ideas are swirling around with no order or structure whatsoever. Something like this blog post…
What to write about first? What services to offer? Whether to get Google’s arbitrary ads about funeral policies and make pittance or try and hook up with people who are willing to send a random writer stuff to review? Overwhelmed is actually an understatement!
Anyone else swirling around in the rapids with me?
I think the worst part is that there are so many blogs out there that are like mine. Stay-at-home-mom, blogging to unleash her flurry of thoughts (and earn an income.) So the question is, what makes mine any different? Well, we’ll have to find out! You’re on this journey with me. Hopefully, you’ll find something useful here. Something that will encourage you or help you in some way or another.
Nothing qualifies me to offer advice any more than you. I am not going to pretend that I get it right often, because I don’t. But hopefully, in my muddle of words, you will find a kindred spirit. Someone else who wants what you want, who messes up just like you and someone to laugh and cry with.
I am here to offer comic relief, comfort and support and, likewise, I hope that you will be able to laugh, encourage and cry with me. We’re all on this crazy journey of life together.
So, here’s to a dummy blogging!Tags: blogging, dummies, stay-at-home-mom
